Grytviken and Shackelton's grave

South! The story of Shakelton's book on his last expedition 1914 to 1917 did't end here but from South Georgia the rescue mission via Punta Arenas began that finally brought back all crew from Elephant island, Antarctica.

School of fin whales

We sighted a school of more than 100 fin whales (estimate of 2 biologists on board). The fin whale is the second-largest animal after the blue whale and growing up to 27 meters and weighing up to 74 tonnes.

It was impossible to catch the whole scene, they were everywhere in smaller and larger groups.
