Protests against Sri Mulyani and Boediono
Demonstrations against Vice President Boediono and Finance Minster Sri Mulyani Indrawati and how they handled the Century Bank bailout.
Demonstrations are colorful, have a bit of carnival in it and often involve Rp 15,000 - 25,000 (± $2) for each paid protester.
Funny or just outright stupid?
It seems that there is quite some money behind such demonstrations. Maybe the Indonesian way of panem et circenses.
No idea how U.S. President Barak Obama got involved in the Century Bank bailout...

Batavia: Dutch warehouses
Warehouses from the Dutch East India Company. First Dutch warehouses were constructed early in the 17th century around the times when Jayakarta was renamed by the Dutch to Batavia (1619-1942). Since 1942 the now much larger area is called Jakarta.
Since 1997 the old warehouses are now the Maritime Museum of Jakarta. The restored buildings are worth a visit but the museum needs more funds and helping hands to showcase Indonesia great maritime past.
