With the Park Hotel (also called 国际饭店) built by the Solvak architect Ladislav Hudec the Shanghai skyline changed significantly.
The 1934 Park Hotel is called Asia's first skyscraper and a saying followed when the 22-floor building opened: "Hold you hat when you look up."
Now look down ... On the very right used to be Shanghai's horse racing track.
August 2010.
